Just before sunrise at Socorro Island, Revillagigedo Archipelago, I captured this unique moment under the Pacific Ocean. With my camera ready, I dived into the calm waters, aiming to create a slow shutter speed image that would capture the essence of early morning marine life. As I reached the ocean floor, I spotted a vibrant school of Ember parrotfish, swimming together in perfect harmony.

But I wanted something to elevate the image, a contrast to bring out the details of the parrotfish. I followed the school for a few moments, searching for that perfect element. Soon, I found a rock adorned with pink sea algae, a natural complement to the colors of the parrotfish. The contrast of the coral and fish created a unique underwater palette, giving this shot a painterly effect. This image later earned an honorable mention in the prestigious Italian photo competition, ASFERICO.
